Hey, friends - I'm here to tell you, a lot has been going on at Turkey Track Ridge!
We had a great year going for chestnuts. That is, until hurricane Irma blew through middle Georgia and knocked a lot of the chestnuts off our trees. They were good while they lasted! Either boiled or roasted, they're great for snacking. Our friends at Barbour Farms in Byron carried our chestnuts this year. We hope you'll do business with them, and while you're at it, ask them to buy more fresh produce from Turkey Track Ridge.
Pears were doing fine too, until -- you guessed it -- the hurricane came along. And buddy, if you don't get them picked up right away, the critters and bugs get to them. Sad, sad, sad.
Do you know what is coming along great this year, though? Persimmons. We're harvesting delicious Jiro and Fuyu varieties, and are they ever sweet! If you haven't tried them, you're in for a treat. They are not astringent like the American varieties, so your mouth will not turn inside out when you eat them. And the fuyus keep very well. Try one today!
